Paperclip

Open-source platform for running teams of AI agents toward business goals

★★★★☆ Open Source 🤖 AI Agents & Automation
Paperclip is organizational infrastructure for AI agents: it handles the org chart, project management, budgets, scheduling, and audit trails so that teams of agents can operate autonomously without per-interaction human oversight. You plug in your existing agents; Paperclip coordinates them against company and project goals. The platform uses a hierarchical context model where goals flow from company level down through projects to individual tasks. Agents wake on a heartbeat schedule or in response to events, check out tasks, do work, report back, and sleep. A per-agent monthly budget cap with automatic throttling prevents runaway spend. Every tool call is logged to a full audit trail for compliance and debugging. Paperclip is explicitly not an agent framework, chatbot, or workflow builder. It sits above those: you bring agents built with LangChain, AutoGen, or any other stack, and Paperclip gives them a shared org structure to work within. The React dashboard is mobile-ready and shows live run status, budget consumption, and cross-agent task delegation.

What the community says

Paperclip has a small but growing community. GitHub traction is building steadily at 28k stars, but HN reception has been lukewarm so far, with the platform not yet breaking through to mainstream developer awareness. Early adopters are enthusiastic about the governance model and the ability to run autonomous agent teams without per-task supervision. Skeptics question whether the zero-human-oversight model is practical for production use cases. The project is actively developed with frequent releases.
